Rejected by Multiple Parties, Subal finds abode in TMC after days of drama

Ex MLA Subal Bhowmik,who had record of switching multiple party joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Agartala on Thursday evening. 

Former MLA Subal Bhowmik, left the Congress a few years ago following a rift with the State Congress leadership. He had formed a regional party also before joining the BJP, then left BJP and again joined Congress and filed his nomination for the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat as a Congress Candidate in 2019.

Former MLA Subal Bhowmik has maintained distance from state politics since his defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections against BJP candidate Pratima Bhoumik.

Along with Subal Bhowmik, former Tripura minister Prakash Chandra Das and several others joined the TMC on Thursday evening.

Announcing the joining, West Bengal education minister Bratya Basu Thursday said his party’s political activities were scuttled due to the ongoing COVID curfew norms in Tripura. 

Former MLA and senior Congress leader Subal Bhowmik, who joined Trinamool Congress today, said he decided to join the party in the “interest of people and for the sake of time”.

TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee, who is also the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, is slated to visit Tripura on Monday.
