Review Meeting on Bru migrants resettlement at Groingnang para

A review meeting on the improvement of socio-economic status of the resettled Bru migrants was held on 29 April, 2023 at Groingnang Para of New Gomati ADC Village in Karbook Block. In the review meeting, there was a detailed discussion on the development of socio-economic status of Bru migrants and the development of better infrastructure in the area. Moreover, a 10-day training camp has started on 29 April, 2023 by the Directorate of Skill Development with 20 youths of Bru migrants living in Groingnang Para.

Principal Secretary of Revenue department Puneet Agarwal inaugurated the training camp. This training camp has been organized with the aim of making the boys and girls of Bru migrants families self-reliant.

The review meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Puneet Agarwal, District Magistrate of Gomati District Govekar Mayur Ratilal, Director of Skill Development Sanjay Chakraborty, Karbook Sub-Divisional Magistrate Partha Das and officials of various departments of Gomati District and Karbook Sub-Division.

In the meeting. importance was laid on providing electricity service to Groningnang Para, house to house drinking water connection, income generation avenues to Bru migrants through joint forest management, self-reliance of women by forming self-help groups through Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission, animal husbandry, education and development of improved communication system. After the review meeting. Principal Secretary Puneet Agarwal and other officials visited the under-construction Health and Wellness Centre, ICDS Centre, English Medium School and residences of Bru migrants in Groningnang Para.

The Principal Secretary ordered to finish all the pending construction works quickly. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Partha Das informed that 300 families were targeted for resettlement of Bru migrants in Groningnang Para. So far 264 families have been rehabilitated in this para. The rest of the families will also move in soon. Moreover, a fair price shop will also be opened at Groingnang Para for Bru migrants very soon
