It is necessary to know what benefits the Constitution has provided for Scheduled Castes. Scheduled caste people should also be aware of their rights.

Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Bhagwan Chandra Das said this at the Unakoti district based ceremony of awarding BR Ambedkar Memorial Merit Scholarship to Scheduled Caste students in Kumarghat Mansi Auditorium and distribution of bicycles and electric machines to Scheduled Caste beneficiaries.

On the occasion on Thursday, he added that the department has conducted awareness camps on the rights of scheduled castes as well as published handbills.

Minister Bhagwan Chandra Das said that the state government has given utmost importance to the development of education of Scheduled Caste students among its various work streams.

He further said, “earlier there was disorganization in providing merit scholarships to students. Now names are entered for merit scholarship through an online portal.

Earlier in higher education, there was no transparency even though financial grants were given for students’ studies in the state and abroad. Now transparency has been brought up in all cases”.
He added that the current government has given freedom to the students and now students can select their preferred educational institution.
