The Supreme Court has refused to postpone Tripura civic polls. A hearing was on in the Supreme Court in connection to the violence ahead of civic polls in Tripura.
Ahead of the civic body polls to be held in the state on November 25, On Sunday, the TMC alleged that party workers were beaten with sticks and stones inside a police station in Agartala by BJP members.
The ruling BJP, however, denied the allegations. On Monday, a delegation of TMC leaders reached Delhi to raise the issue of violence in the state and staged a dharna at the home ministry when they weren’t given an appointment with Amit Shah.
The TMC also filed a petition before the Supreme Court regarding the ‘worsening law and order situation’ in Tripura. The Supreme Court is hearing the petition today
