Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Tinku Roy said this while inaugurating the state-level under-14 boys football competition of school sports at Ramakrishna Mahavidyalaya Stadium in Kailasahar yesterday. The Sports Minister said that parents should also come forward in this work of the state government.

They should encourage their children to play sports. He said that Padma Shri Dipa Karmakar, Somdev Debbarman, Arsiya Das have made Tripura’s name shine at the national and international level. After the inaugural programme, Sports Minister unveiled open gym plaque next to the stadium of Ramakrishna Mahavidyalaya Sahakari Sabhadhipati of Unakoti Zilla Parishad Shyamal Das, Vice Chairperson of Kailasahar Municipal Council Nitish Dey and others were present on the occasion.

District Sports Officer Arjun Debnath delivered the welcome speech. Chairperson of Kailasahar Municipal Council Chapla Debroy presided over the programme. 8 teams from 8 districts and 1 team from Tripura Sports School participated in this competition. The competition will continue till May 17.
