The state now has a farmer friendly government. The government is working to double farmers income and help them become self-reliant.
The initiative to procure paddy at Minimum Support Price from the farmers is a part of the government’s effort to double fanners income, enunciated Information & Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury after inaugurating paddy procurement initiative at MSP at the Madhah Bari Food Go-down in Jirania yesterday organized by Food.
Civil Supplies & Consumer Affain department in association with Agriculture & Farmers Welfare department. He said, after the formation of the new government, paddy procurement at MSP from farmers was one of the primary decisions taken up by the government. Now paddy procurement from farmers is done twice a year.
As a result, the farmers are getting encoumged and their incomes have also increased. Earlier, a farmer was allowed to sell maximman 3 MT of paddy only which has now been increased to 5 MT. The paddy procurement at Rs 19.40 per kilogram will continue till February 1, 2022. Welcome speech was delivered by Jinania Sub-Divisional Magistrate Jihan Krishna Acharya. Jirania Agnculture office’s Agricultural Superintendent Subrata Das also delivered speech in the inaugural programme.
Vice-Chairman of Jimnia Panchayat Samiti Pritam Debnath was also present in the programme.
