Tight security arrangements for peaceful Durga puja, DGP

Tight security arrangements are being made to celebrate peaceful Durga Puja in Agartala city and other parts of Tripura.

Addressing a press conference at police headquarters, DGP Akhil Kumar Shukla said, although there is no specific threat, the state police establishment is leaving no stone unturned to ensure peaceful celebrations of Durga puja.

DGP said, this year as per available information Durga Puja is likely to be celebrated at 2547 places or pandals in entire state, which was 2436 in last year. This includes 958 Durga puja’s in urban areas and 1569 in rural areas, which was 1482 in previous year in rural areas of the state.

Huge number of police personnel and paramilitary forces will be deployed across the state and thousands of police personnel and equal number of TSR personnel will be deployed throughout the state to maintain law and order and to regulate traffic movement.

‘We had elaborate discussion on security measures with Chief Minister on Friday and state government has approved 170 hire vehicles to intensify the police patrolling’, said Shukla.
