The second round of discussions among opposition parties in Tripura, including CPIM, TIPRA Motha and Congress took place in Agartala on Tuesday.
Opposition Leader Animesh Debbarma, Motha President Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl, MLA Brishaketu Debbarma and senior leader Jagadish Debbarma represented TIPRA Motha in the discussion.
CPIM MLA and the party’s state secretary Jitendra Chowdhury, along with Left Front chairman and former MP Narayan Kar, and former Ministers, Ratan Bhowmik and Manik Dey represented the CPIM in the discussions.
Congress Tripura president Asish Kumar Saha and former MLA Diba Chandra Hrangkhawl represented Congress.
The focal point of the conversation revolved around Motha and Congress potentially endorsing CPI-M candidates in the forthcoming by-elections in Dhanpur and Boxanagar.
It is worth noting that both Motha and Congress opted not to nominate their own candidates for these positions.
However, internal sources indicate that the opposition parties have not yet reached an agreement, as to the CPIM independently announced the names of its two candidates after the initial round of discussions.
