Training for MLAs mooted

A team of specialist officials of parliament will impart a brief training to the newly elected MLAs and ministers of Tripura in parliamentary function and  code of conduct in performing their duties. The loksabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan who attended a commonwealth parliamentary committee meeting at Guwahati on October 8 had been approached by the leader of Tripura delegation and education minister Ratan Lal Nath to arrange for a training session for the new MLAs and ministers of Tripura.

Nath pointed out that 37 out of altogether 60 MLAs in the Tripura assembly are absolutely new to  the house while all nine ministers are also new including the speaker Rebati Mohan Das who needed a basic training in parliamentary procedure , conduct and code of conduct.

The discussion took place on the sidelines of the commonwealth parliamentary committee meeting. Having listened to Ratan Lal Nath’s plea the loksabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan immediately gave her consent and said that a team of experts in parliamentary affairs including the specialist director Rahul Jaiswal will impart the training at a time convenient to the MLAs and ministers of Tripua.

The conclave of commonwealth parliamentary committee in Guwahati was attended by Ratan Lal Nath , Rebati Mohan Das, Shambhu  Lal Chakma , Pramod Reang and Kalyani Roy.

The committee discussed matters related to women empowerment, organized insurgency and skill and infrastructure development.
