Tripura Assembly bypolls: 78.58% votes polled; violence reported in some areas

According to the reports of the Election Commission of India (ECI), a total of 78.58 percent of voters have exercised their voting rights in the by-election on Thursday across the four assembly constituencies of Tripura till 5 PM.

The statistical reports were published on Thursday evening.

Reports highlighted that 71.13 percent votes were recorded in 8-Town Bardowali constituency, 83.11 percent in 46-Surma constituency and 83.12 percent in 57-Jubarajnagar constituency.

6-Agartala constituency 77.35 percent.
A total of 1 lakh 89 thousand 32 voters will decide the fate of 22 candidates of different political parties.

Candidates of BJP, Congress, Trinamool Congress (TMC), Left Front, TIPRA Motha and independent candidates have contested in the by-polls.

ECI observers, micro observers and poll officials visited polling booths regularly to monitor the situation.

Many electorates have raised allegations that unknown people threatened them and tried to stop them from exercising votes.

On the other hand, West Tripura SP Bogati Jagadishwar Reddy said that elections were peaceful.

Police acted immediately based on received complaints.
