Congress leaders of Tripura had protested against the summons of top leaders, Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi by ED, in front of Agartala ED office at Airport Road by staging a dharna on Wednesday.
They protested against ED’s repeated summons of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on National Herald corruption case.
Sudip Roy Barman, 6-Agartala by-polls candidate, Asish Kumar Saha, 8-Town Bardowali candidate, Szarita Laitphlang, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary and various other leaders and workers joined the agitation program.
Barman claimed that the central government has transformed all institutions into their puppets while addressing the gathered protesters.
He alleged that all institutions are being used for political gains without mentioning the name of any party.
He added that people of India are criticising such actions. Sudip Roy Barman said that giving continuous ED notices to Congress leaders- Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, is nothing but an attempt of the Modi-led central government to divert public attention from various important issues.
He also said that these efforts are being made to hide the burning issues like economic prosperity and growth.
Congress leaders threw ink at the main entrance of the ED office during the protest.
Barman alleged that the BJP government is playing divide and rule politics in the country in the name of caste system and religion.
Meanwhile, it was the third day of interrogation of Rahul Gandhi at Enforcement Directorate office in a row on Wednesday.
