Tripura: Fact Finding Panel meets Guv, highlights present Law and Order situation

The Fact-Finding Panel of CPIM and Congress MLAs and leaders demanded intervention of Tripura’s Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya for ending the ‘political violence’.

The 7-member Panel led by Rajya Sabha MP Elaram Karim submitted a memorandum to the Governor highlighting several incidences of post-poll violence, which alleged occurred across different areas in Tripura after the announcement of Assembly Election results on March 2.

The Panel alleged that Fact-Finding Panel was attacked by miscreants at Nehalchandra Nagar Bazar in Bishalgarh on Saturday.

They also claimed that the team also faced resistance while touring the Mohanpur area and following these incidences, the Panel was compelled to abandon further inspection.

The Panel members urged the Governor to initiate steps for restoring peace and maintaining law and order.

Notably, the panel arrived in Agartala on Friday on a 2-day visit to inspect the post-poll violence in Tripura.
