Tripura police yet again carried out a successful antidrug operation in the Sepahijala district.
After hours of operation in an area of about 5 hectares in Bhati Kalamchowra area under Kalamchowra police station on Tuesday morning, a total of 120,000 cannabis plants were first cut and then destroyed by police officials.
They set fire in the uprooted cannabis trees with petrol in the huge cannabis garden to destroy them.
At the same time, six tree houses for guarding the ganja plantation were set on fire.
Officials of the administration said that the market value of these cannabis plants will be around one crore rupees.
Kalamchowra police station acting OC Prashant Kumar Dey, 150 Battalion BSF Boxanagar Forest Department, Police, TSR forces participated in this day’s operation.
They said such operations will continue in the coming days.
