Tripura gears up for Durga Puja celebrations amid Covid-19

The whole Agartala City wore an adorable look with decorative lights lit-up everywhere as majority of Puja pandals have been opened for public view on the day of MahaShasti today.


The festive spirit is also visible in the major markets and city malls as prime city roads are flooded with people.

Like previous years, Agartala city is again the centre of attraction with big marquees and adorable lighting works.

But this year, the Puja organisers have kept their whole focus on crowd management and erected the pandals in a way that the idol could be sighted from faraway places.

A good number of TSR and Police Jawans would be pressed into action for hassle free passage of the Puja days.

Security arrangements had also been tightened up along with enforcement of strict traffic guidelines to avoid any unto words incident.

As a part of the Covid 19 precautions, thermal scanning are in place in the Puja pandals to isolate and trace symptomatic people who could be susceptible to the infection.

As in the past, elaborate Police arrangements have been made all over the State to ensure peaceful celebration of the festival.

Nearly 7660, comprising 4242 TSR and 3418 Police personnel shall be deployed in the State to maintain law & order and to regulate traffic movement.

There will be a total of 157 Police Assistance Booths all over the states including 50 Police Assistance Booths exclusively in Agartala city to render assistance to the people.

98 Watch tower are being constructed in all important locations including 25 Towers in Agartala.

The sensitive and important places with high foot-falls will be kept under CCTV surveillance.

Total 78 CCTV will be installed in various locations all over the state excluding the available CCTV, cameras installed in Agartala under Smart City Project. Govt.

Railway Police Stations have taken special cares for safety & security of the Puja viewers. In addition to the above deployment, total 08 platoons of CRPF have been deployed in 08 Major Police Station areas.

Under the Emergency Response Security System(ERSS) total 88 Nos. of mobile vehicles will also remain in service 24×7, for which the Toll Free call number is 112.

Assistance of NCC shall be taken for Traffic control during the day time in course of Puja Period. This apart, 200 Women Police Volunteers in Gomati District and 240 in West Tripura District will also assist police.
