Tripura Govt to give 2/3 Ganda land to tea workers free of cost

The state government will purchase 20,000 metric tonnes of paddy from farmers in the state at a minimum support price of Rs 19.40 per kg in this year.

Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced the decision at a press conference.

He told a press conference that the state government would spend about Rs 45 crore as a result of purchasing subsidized paddy in the season.

The procurement of paddy will start from the first week of June.

At the press conference, the Minister of Information and Culture further said that under the Chief Minister’s Tea Workers Welfare Project, for the welfare of tea workers, 2 to 3 ganda lands will be given free to the tea worker families across the state.

This will benefit 6,230 tea worker families across the state. The Information and Cultural Affairs Minister said that in today’s cabinet meeting, an electric vehicle policy has been adopted for the next five years under the Transport Department. He said that so far this policy has been implemented in 14 states of the country except our state.

The policy also applies to the northeastern states of Meghalaya and Assam. He further said that the main objective of introducing this policy is to maintain pollution free environment in the state.
