The Government of Tripura has welcome the decision of the Union Government for introduction of new scheme namely AGNEEPATH to provide scope for the youth to serve the nation.
Recently, on 14 June the Union Cabinet had approved a recruitment scheme for Indian youth to serve in the Armed Forces. The youth selected under this scheme will be known as Agniveers. The scheme has been designed to enable a youthful profile of the Armed Forces. It allows patriotic and motivated youth to serve in the Armed Forces for a period of four years. Men and women between the ages of 17 ½ and 21 yrs will be recruited in the AGNEEPATH scheme. The applicant must be a citizen of India.
Subsequently, Centre has decided to bring a change in the upper age limit for recruiting Agniveers, accordingly the Government has decided on 16 June that a one-time waiver shall be granted for the proposed recruitment cycle for 2022. Accordingly, the upper age limit for the recruitment process for AGNEEPATH scheme for 2022 is increased to 23 years.
Agniveers will be given an attractive customized monthly package along with Risk and Hardship allowances as applicable in the three services. On completion of the engagement period of four years, Agniveers will be paid one time ‘Seva Nidhi’ package which shall comprise their contribution including accrued interest thereon and matching contribution from the Government equal to the accumulated amount of their contribution including interest and which is tax free.
