The Tripura health department has established health desks at all three customs stations so that every Bangladeshi citizen entering the state can undergo a dengue test at the checkpoint.
The initiative is taken considering the surge of dengue cases across various areas of Bangladesh.
According to reports on 18 July 2023, Bangladesh has recorded 127 fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease, which is five times higher than 2022.
A health official stated that despite no reported cases so far in Tripura, Bangladeshi nationals will only be allowed entry after receiving confirmation from the pathology test.
