Tripura pays tribute to Army jawans who died in Manipur landslide

The mortal remains of two army men martyred in Manipur landslide reached Agartala MBB airport on Sunday.

Two martyrs, Sanjay Debnath of Bishalgarh of Sepahijala District and Prasanta Kumar Deb of West Tripura district were posted at the Territorial Army camp in Noney district of Manipur.

Their bodies were airlifted by an army chopper on Sunday and brought to the state.
Over hundreds of people gathered at the airport for the last farewell of the martyrs.
Mortal remains were taken to Assam Rifles headquarters of Agartala at 15:00 hrs where the reception and wreath laying ceremony were performed.

57 Artillery Brigade Commander and Commanding Officer of three under Command units were present for wreath laying from the Army.

Officers of 21 Sector and 18 Assam Rifles laid wreath on behalf of GOC Eastern Command, Deputy General Assam Rifles, Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), and 3 Corps Commander Deputy Inspector General 21 Sector Assam Rifles.

Large groups of people turned up during the wreath laying ceremony and extended heartfelt condolences to the martyred jawans
After the wreath laying ceremony, the mortal remains were sent to their homes at 15:45 hrs.
Families of both jawans broken into tears when they saw the mortal remains.

Earlier on Saturday, the Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, the former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and politicians of different political party paid condolences to the death of the army jawans of Tripura.
