Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of West Agartala and Battala police stations led a major operation on Tuesday and seized a significant amount of Eskuf Cough Syrup, valued at around Rs 6 lakh, was seized at IGM Chowmuhani in Agartala.
The Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Deba Prasad Roy briefed the media. He stated that the state police received information concerning a Tata Ace Magic vehicle with registration number TR01C-4305, suspected of carrying narcotics.
Based on the intelligence, police officials from the West Agartala police stations and Battala under the OC Jayanta Kumar Dey’s leadership began chasing the vehicle from Colonel Chowmuhani.
The suspected vehicle ignored traffic signals and was eventually stopped near IGM Hospital Chowmuhani.
The driver made an attempt to escape, but law enforcement officials apprehended him during the operation.
Sadar SDPO Deba Prasad Roy also mentioned that the detained driver, named Mithu Das, would undergo questioning.
Reports suggest that roughly 600 bottles of Eskuf Cough Syrup were seized, with an estimated market value of Rs 5 to 6 lakh.
