Tripura: Security beefed up in Agartala ahead of PM Modi’s visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Agartala on a one-day visit to the state on December 18.

He will land at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport at 2:25 PM in a special Air Force aircraft.
At 2:45 PM, the Prime Minister will address a public meeting at Swami Vivekananda Ground and will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of several projects.

The Prime Minister will then leave Agartala at 5:15 PM. District Magistrate Devpriya Bardhan gave this news in a press conference at the West Tripura District Magistrate’s office on Friday afternoon.

District Magistrate also said that special trains and buses have been arranged to come and go to Swami Vivekananda Ground at Agartala from all over the state.

He added that 16 cultural groups will perform traditional cultural programs of the state to welcome the Prime Minister on the road from Agartala Airport to Swami Vivekananda Ground.

In the press conference, West Tripura District Superintendent of Police Shankar Debnath said, “Extensive security measures have been taken on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s visit to the state.

Surveillance has been tightened at the India-Bangladesh border. CCTV cameras have been installed in Swami Vivekananda Ground”.
He added that public will be allowed to enter the grounds after 11 am.
