The sixth Northeast Youth Festival will be held in Tripura from November 15 to 18 with over 1,200 participants taking part in various events. The participants will be from all over the country including the seven sisters.
Tripura Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs, Manoj Kanti Deb Tuesday said that 1,000 participants from Assam, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura would join the Youth Festival. Along with sporting events, the youth festival will see cultural events including folk music, dance, martial arts, adventure sports, handicrafts shows.
Manoj Kanti Deb told reporters that CMs from the northeastern states are expected to be in attendance at the festival. “All Chief Ministers from northeastern states have been invited to the NE Youth Festival. Mizoram chief minister is busy in election exercise there. But we hope all chief ministers will join us, even Sikkim CM Pawan Kumar Chamling, who seldom visits outside his state”, Manoj said.
The minister added that the sixth NE Youth Festival would appeal youths to contribute to building a drug-free society. The youth festival is being organized with an estimated expenditure of Rs. 3 crores and aims to provide a glimpse of talents from northeastern states. The fifth NE Youth Festival was hosted by Sikkim in 2017.
