The Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel will have a significant responsibility in maintaining security for the upcoming elections in Mizoram and Madhya Pradesh.
As per source from the Home Department, a contingent of 685 TSR officers and jawans from different battalions will be assigned to this task. Their departure to Mizoram is slated for October 31, followed by their deployment to Madhya Pradesh.
The source said, “Due to no direct railway link between Mizoram and Tripura, the TSR personnel will make the journey from Agartala to Aizawl by road. Afterward, they will commence their train travel from the Silchar station in South Assam on November 9.”
Notably, the India Reserve (IR) battalions of TSR have previously been involved in election-related assignments across more than 19 states, and played a pivotal role in ensuring security during both Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.”
