Various development projectsare being implemented in Karbook which used to be referred as backward area. Asian Development Bank as a strategic partner will be funding projects worth Rs 7-8000 crore over the next 4 to 5 years apart from the current projects. This will start a new phase in the overall development and infrastructure improvement of the state, enunciated Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after inaugurating newly built Karbook SDM office and Agri Market Stall under Gomati district yesterday.
He then looked around market stalls and different sections of the SDM office. The Chief Minister appreciated the state-of-the-art design and planning of these infrastructures determined by the Rural Development Department. The new SDM office was built spending 5.87 crore rupees and 1 crore rupees was spent in building 30 Agri Market Stalls.
The Chief Minister in the inaugural programme said, the government is working on priority basis for the overall development of the state from urban to the remote areas.State-wide developmental worksare undergoing to provide financial and infrastructural assistance to small and medium enterprises, including expansion of industrial-friendly clusters, favorable business environment.
As part of this, these Agri Stalls will play an important role generating income for the people who depend on Jhum cultivation and are involved in agriculture. He said, multiple initiatives have been taken for the welfare of farmers, including purchase of paddy at MSP ensuring economic prosperity as well as self-esteem of the farmers. Mentioning young entrepreneur Rajib Debbarma, he said, he is a unique gift for us. The youth of a region that used to be neglected as backward and inaccessible is now a successful and self-dependent entrepreneur being an engineering graduate. He also lauded his proposal to set up a floating restaurant in addition to modernizing the Dumboor-centric tourism industry.
The Chief Minister also said, the government is working giving priority to the socio-economic development of the tribals. The government is working setting targets by consolidating various tourism potential areas such as Dumboor, Tripureswari temple etc.
This region will play a leading role not only in its own economic prosperity but also in overall economic development of the state. Where employees used to take job joining in areas such as Gandacherra, Karbook, they are now willing to work there with development speeding up in those areas. Negligence in various aspects has been observed in the development of the tribals in the past days.
But in the short period of time, since the present government took over, it has been possible to find a permanent solution to the long-awaited problem of Bru refugees with the sincere efforts of the Union Home Minister and the Prime Minister. There is no chance of fulfilling political interests by stealing human rights in Tripura anymore.
Member of Parliament Rebati Tripura in the inaugural programme said, multi faceted development is being attained in the state under the joint management of the central and state government. He hoped that the new SDM office will prove to play an important role in providing speedy civic services.
He said, one of the goals of the government is to alleviate the problems of the citizens through decentralization of administrative facilities. Plans are there to set up a college in this region. The appearance of the region is changing with the development of improved roads and other infrastructure. As a result of various positive steps taken by the state government, commercial imports and exports have also gained momentum. Self-esteem has been established among the people of all ethnic groups in the state under the present government. Others present in the programme were Gomati DM Raval Hemendra Kumar, Karbook RD Block BAC Chairman Asim Kumar Tripura.
