Women must play an important role in creating a drug-free family: Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development

Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Department Kaushal Kishore held an interactive meeting with the members of self-help groups at Mukut Auditorium of Santirbazar sub-division on 14 September, 2023. Cooperation Minister Shukla Charan Noatia, MLA Pramod Reang, Chairperson of Santirbazar Municipal Council Swapna Baidya, District Magistrate of South Tripura District Saju Vaheed A and others were present in the meeting. Members of 111 self-help groups of Santirbazar Municipal Council area were present in the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Department said that if women are self-reliant, the family becomes self-reliant. If the family is self-reliant, the state and country becomes self-reliant. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for atmanirbhar India. Therefore, the present government is working towards building a self-reliant India through women empowerment. Making toys, cottage industries, animal husbandry, rearing ducks, chicken rearing, bee keeping, making pickle, making candle ete, are making women self-reliant. Not only this, houses, toilets and even bank accounts of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana are being opened in the name of women.

The campaign to build a self-reliant India is underway. Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Department Kaushal Kishore said that women have to play an important role in creating a drug-free family, MILA Pramod Reang spoke on the occasion. Welcome address was given by Sub- Divisional Magistrate Abedananda Baidya.

After the programme, the Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Department visited a vending zone in Santirbazar and interacted with the local traders.
