As part of celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh Liberation, BSF of Tripura Frontier along with its coun terpart Border Guard Bangla desh (BGB) felicitated the war veterans on Sunday at the Akhaura ICP.
India-Bangladesh friendship has reached a new level. To take it further, cultural and sports exchanges between the two countries need to be further enhanced.
This was stated by Information and Culture Minister Sushant Chowdhury while inaugurating the India-Bangladesh joint cultural program organized by BSF on the occasion of BSF’s contribution to Bangladesh’s liberation war and Victory Day.
He said the new generation should be made more aware of the liberation war of Bangladesh and India’s contribution in it. He congratulated the soldiers and officers of all sections of BSF for their special contribution in the liberation war of Bangladesh.
Among the distinguished guests present on the occasion were MLA Mimi Majumder, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Agartala Mohammad Jobaid Hossain. In his welcome address, BSF Inspector General KS Banial mentioned the role of BSF in the freedom struggle of Bangladesh.
The War veterans included- Ex Assistant Commandant of BSF- K.M Majumder, Ex-Chief Defender- Nikhil Ghosh, Ex-Chief Defender- Dulal Chandra were felicitated and remembered their contribution to the 1971 war in the programme today.
Cultural teams from India and Bangladesh performed cultural programs on the occasion. A photo exhibition on the liberation war was also organized on the occasion.
