Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, Ratanlal Nath, emphasized the importance of organic farming for the nation’s progress and the health benefits of pure food. During the inauguration of a pineapple processing center in Pushkarbari, Amtali Village, in Charilam block of Sipahijala district, the Minister highlighted the Prime Minister’s focus on organic farming across the country.

Minister Nath stated that organic farming has been given special importance by the state government, with a variety of crops, including pineapples, now being cultivated organically in Tripura.

As a part of the state’s agricultural priorities, one Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) has been established in each block, with the pineapple processing center being the first of its kind in the state to be opened through an FPO.

Nath underscored the critical role farmers play in the nation’s food security, calling them the “breadwinners” of society. He further urged that no land should be left abandoned, and farmers should cultivate crops that are suited to the land’s potential.
