Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah will kick off the campaign for the two Lok Sabha seats in Tripura on Saturday by addressing a huge rally of 55,000 pristha promukhs and other BJP supporters at Swami Vivekananda ground here.
Panna promukhs are the ground-level workers of the ruling BJP here who maintain direct relations with the voters in the state.
Addressing a news conference on Wednesday evening at the BJP state office, party general secretary Pratima Bhowmik said, “Amit Shahji will visit Agartala on January 5 to address a mass gathering of panna promukhs at Vivekananda Maidan. All the 55,000 Pristha promukhs will take a pledge to ensure victory for the BJP at the rally. Later, he will attend a meeting with the cabinet ministers of the state.”
She said the party would kickstart its campaign for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections during the visit of the BJP president.
“From January 5, our campaign for the Lok Sabha will start and our party has set a target to win both the Lok Sabha seats in the state. This year, we will give two lotus flowers to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief Amit Shahji,” Bhowmik added.
She said the BJP’s Tripura minder, Sunil Deodhar, Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav would also join the pristha pramukh sanmelan that day.
