Tripura BJP announced the 55th candidate name on Sunday by declaring Papia Datta, party’s state general secretary as their nominee for the Agartala assembly.
Meanwhile, ruling BJP’s ally IPFT also announced their candidate list for 5 seats.
Thus, BJP and IPFT will jointly fight in 60 assembly seats in Tripura in the 2023 assembly election, which will be held on February 16.
Papia Datta, a prominent leader of BJP’s Mahila Morcha will contest against the Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, a heavyweight candidate from the Agartala constituency.
BJP vice president Rebati Tripura said that party candidates will submit their nomination papers on Monday accompanied by the senior party leaders.
While speaking to reporters at party headquarters, Datta said that her nomination is symbolic as a party worker.
She thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party national president JP Nadda and state leaders for keeping faith in her.
The first time candidate said, “I am confident that we will win the election to the Agartala Assembly constituency with the blessings of electors”.
