BJP’s Ram Prasad Paul elected Tripura Assembly Dy Speaker

Ramprasad Paul, a senior BJP leader and former prisons and fire service minister of Tripura has been elected as Deputy Speaker of the Assembly through unanimous decision.

Ramprasad Paul submitted his nomination for the post of Assembly Deputy Speaker in Tripura on Monday.

After being elected unopposed in the Assembly, Paul thanked all members. He told the House that he would carry out his duties with dignity and responsibility and hoped that all discussions in the House will be constructive.
On behalf of the treasury benches, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha welcomed the newly elected Deputy Speaker and assured him of all possible support to run the House.

The opposition (TIPRA Motha) leader, Animesh Debbarma, expressed his support for the conduct of business in the House and mentioned his old relationship with Paul.

However, Debbarma added that the opposition would speak out if the government made any decisions that were not in the best interest of the people.
