BSF SEIZED NARCOTICS & CONTRABAND WORTH 40.79 LACS

In the series of Special Operations to thwart the trans-border smuggling
activities in State of Tripura, BSF is continuously succeeded in seizing huge quantity of narcotics and contraband items along the Indo-Bangladesh border as well as in
the hinterland.

In the intervening night of 16/17 Nov 2020, BSF Tripura again succeeded in seizing 51.5 Kgs Ganja, 11 Bottles Liquor, 1,375 Kgs Hilsa (ilish)
Fish and other contraband articles having combined value of Rs. 40,79,690/-, besides apprehended 01 Bangladeshi intruder during various operations.

In one such operation in early hours of 17th Jan 2022 based on specific intelligence input, BSF troops of BOP Ashabari, Ex-150 Bn BSF, Gokulnagar successful seized a consignment comprising of ‘1,375 Kgs Hilsa (ilish) Fish worth Rs. 2,17,000/-’ on the International Border under Police Station- Sonamura, Sub DivSonamura, Distt- Sepahijala.

The seized fish handed over to Customs- Sonamura for further disposal. On 17th Jan 2022 (AN) on specific intelligence input, BSF troops of BOP Ashabari, Ex-150 Bn BSF, Gokulnagar apprehended Bangladeshi National namely Mohd Deepu Miah S/o Wahid Miah R/o Vill- Uttar Ashabari, PostShashidal, Police Station- Brahmanpara, District- Comila (Bangladesh), while he was trying to negotiating IBBF from BD side.

The above apprehended person alongwith the items recovered from him has been handed over to PS- Kalamchoura, Distt- Sepahijala for further course of action. It is to mention that vigilant BSF troops deployed on the extreme Frontiers of the Country in Tripura State are effectively manning the International Border and considerably seizing various contraband items on regular basis from the bordering
areas.
