Chief Minister Manik Saha said on Sunday that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Centre has approved 2,000 crore rupees for Tripura to supply piped drinking water to households.
Notably, currently, 56% of households in the state have piped water facilities while the state government has a plan for water supply to all households.
While speaking to reporters at Rabindra Bhavan after attending a party programme, CM said “I am glad to share that the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti has approved Rs 2000 crore for Tripura under Jal Jeevan Mission 2023-24 and Tripura has received above a total of Rs 1,930 crore in the last 3 years”.
CM Saha wholeheartedly thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for sanctioning the fund.
He added that the fund will ensure supply of piped drinking water to more households in the state.
