“Tripura government is keeping an eye so that drug cannot be smuggled to the state. The present government will show no leniency to syndicate raj and factionalism,” enunciated Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb during his visit to Churaibari Modernised Border Check post of Tripura-Assam border. He said that lately there have been various incoming complaints about the check-post and to inspect the matter and the management system the Chief Minister personally visited the spot. He also said that every vehicle must be thoroughly checked as to prevent the entrance of any drug-based material into the state which is why the Chief Minister passed his order to cover the check-post under CCTV surveillance.
The Chief Minister strongly made his point clear that the government is working with transparency and will not show any leniency to syndicate raj and commission businesses. All kinds of goods loaded truck and passenger vehicles enter the state through Churaibari check-post of North Tripura district. On this occasion, the Chief Minister spoke with the concerned authorities regarding the activities at Churaibari Modernised Border Check-post.
During his visit, the Chief Minister enquired about the management system of Churaibari Modernised Border Check-post. Going through the list of fined vehicles in 2020-21 fiscal year, the Chief Minister expressed his suspicion and enquired about the parameters of fining vehicles. The authorities informed the Chief Minister that total 96 trucks have crossed the check-post without being fined before his visit. However, during his visit, in different categories, 3 trucks were fined out of 15 trucks after checking. The authorities informed that most vehicles go unchecked while crossing the check-post Only random and doubtful vehicles are being checked, the Chief Minister then ordered for modernised checking and truck scanner to be installed at the check-post to the concerned authorities.
The Chief Minister also stressed upon digitalising, introducing Single Window Service and modernising the management system at check-post. He also ordered the authorities to keep close eye on every vehicle so that no vehicle could illegally enter the state. On the Chief Minister’s orders during his visit at the check-post, the vehicles standing at the check-post were checked on certain parameters and two out of four trucks were liable to be fined. The Chief Minister also invigilated on how the doubtful trucks are being checked.
On the way to the check-post, some stone crusher machines standing on NH road came into Chief Minister’s notice. The Chief Minister then asked the North DM Nagesh Kumar BK whether the stone crushers have been approved legally or not. Apart from that, the Chief Minister also ordered to be vigilant on vehicles trying to enter the state through alternate roads. He expressed that the government aims to promote trade in the state but it in legal ways.
Others present during the Chief Minister’s visit to Churaibari check-post were Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen, Tripura Police DG V.S Yadav, Secretary to CM Dr. P.K Goyal, SP Bhanupad Chakraborty, Dharmanagar SDM and officials of District administration, transport and sales tax department.
