Agartala, July 18: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha has written to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, expressing serious concern over the poor condition of two major national highways in Tripura—NH-08 (Churaibari–Agartala) and NH-108B(Kumarghat–Kailashahar–Kamalpur–Khowai–Agartala), which is connected to NH-208.
In his letter, the Chief Minister highlighted the severe inconvenience faced by commuters and the general public during the ongoing monsoon due to the deteriorating condition of these highways.
He urged the Union Minister to immediately depute a team of senior officials from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to Tripura to assess the situation and ensure that effective measures are taken to keep NH-08, NH-208 and NH-108B in a safe and motorable condition.
The Chief Minister also requested the Union Minister to direct the Managing Director of NHIDCL to regularly review the progress of construction and repair works with field-level officials in Tripura and ensure timely implementation of the necessary restoration measures.
