CM acknowledges Cooperative Banks’ success in benefiting rural communities

Agartala: June 25 – Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday has expressed his appreciation for the officials working in Cooperative Banks in the state, as the banks are witnessing good profit that will eventually benefit the people living in villages.

Addressing the 40th Annual General Meeting of the Tripura State Cooperative Bank Limited at Agartala Town Hall, the CM said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always emphasized that without developing villages, the development of a state and country is not possible. In line with this direction, the state government is actively working.
“Our Home Minister Amit Shah, who is also in charge of cooperative banks, is working in the same direction to strengthen the rural economy for the benefit of the people. Our state government is also following the direction of the Union Minister and PM Modi for the development of the people,” said Dr. Saha.

He highlighted that the Cooperative Banks in the state, which were previously facing losses, are now significantly witnessing profits.
“I am very happy to see that this bank is now making profits. Earlier, state cooperative banks were associated with losses, but for the past five years, the officials have been working tirelessly to turn the bank profitable. I frequently heard that people faced problems while obtaining loans, but here the cooperative banks are providing loans. We have addressed some of the old problems to a certain extent, and I believe the officials will continue to resolve these issues. This bank offers loans for various purposes, including home loans,” said CM Dr. Saha.

He further informed that the cooperative bank has introduced micro ATM services in some rural areas, and Electronic Common Service Centers (ECSC) will be introduced in places where banking systems are not available. To facilitate this, 14 business correspondent points will be established.
“The way the Cooperative Bank is collaborating with NABARD in rural areas is commendable, and I hope they will continue to maintain their reputation,” he added.
