Chief Minister Manik Saha who holds the Home department on Wednesday claimed that the law and order situation has improved in Tripura in the past five years.
However, opposition CPIM opposed the statement and said that Tripura has never experienced such lawlessness.
CM Saha chaired a high-level meeting with the Director General of Police and District Superintendents of Police and reviewed the law and order situation.
While addressing the media he said that submitted reports indicate that all crimes like assault, rape, murder has declined significantly.
CM added that the cases of hurt or assault declined by 40% since 2018 as well as cases of murder and rapes are also dwindling in the state.
He praised the police for maintaining law and order effectively and asked police officers to keep the same work momentum even if opposition parties try to disrupt peace in the state.
CM added that the police officers highlighted various problems faced by them, such as lack of infrastructure and manpower shortage in some areas.
