Dharmanagar, June 10: The CPI(M) organized a protest march and demonstration in Dharmanagar on Tuesday, demanding measures to curb the rising prices of essential commodities and address growing unemployment.
The protest march passed through the main roads of the city, with party leaders and supporters raising slogans against the government over various public issues.
Addressing a gathering after the march, alleged that the common people are bearing the brunt of soaring prices. He claimed that the government has failed to control the market and accused it of pursuing anti-people policies.
“The common people are being crushed by the burden of price rise. The prices of essential commodities have gone beyond the reach of ordinary citizens,” Dutta said while addressing the meeting.
He further warned that if effective steps are not taken immediately to control the rising prices, the Left parties would intensify their agitation and launch a larger movement in the coming days.
