Kadamtala, July 10: Workers and supporters of the CPI(M) from the Kadamtala-Kurti Assembly constituency presented a deputation to the Kadamtala Electricity Substation on Thursday afternoon, raising five key demands, including the cancellation of the proposed smart meters.
The deputation was submitted to Senior Manager Dipayan Das of the Kadamtala Substation. Among the notable demands were retaining the existing traditional meters instead of introducing smart meters, addressing the issue of frequent power cuts in the substation area, providing new electricity connections at affordable rates with easy terms, and resolving long-standing power supply problems in the region.
CPI(M) MLA Islam Uddin led the deputation, accompanied by Dharmanagar Subdistrict Secretariat members Jahrul Haque, Haripada Goswami, Makhon Nath, and other local leaders.
Party leaders stated that uninterrupted power supply and affordable services are basic rights of the people and urged the administration to take prompt steps to address the grievances.
