On 22 April 2019, on specific intelligence input from BSF sources about smuggling of Yaba Tablets across the International Border, a joint operation was planned by BSF and Police in general area of Akhaura Border Out Post. Joint Ops party was comprising of troops from 120 Bn BSF and SDPO, Sadar Agartala.
As per the plan, a Mobile check post was established on link road connecting ICP Agartala and Lankamura (Ramnagar Road). At about 04:15 Pm, a man riding a motorcycle was observed coming from ICP Agartala and heading towards Lankamura.
On suspicion motor biker was detained by BSF and Police party. On questioning, he revealed his identity as Rabbil Miah (19 Years), R/o Village – Ramnagar, PS – Airport, Distt – Tripura West. On thoroughly search of the suspect, joint operation party recovered 5,800 Nos of Yaba Tablets worth Rs. 29,00,000/-, 01 Nos Brand new TVS Apache Motorcycle without registration worth Rs. 1,28,000/- and a mobile from his possession. The apprehended person along with seized items handed over to PS West Tripura and FIR has been lodged against the apprehended person on NDPS Act.
In addition to seizure of Yaba Tablets, alert BSF troops of Tripura Frontier seized 22 Nos Cattle worth Rs. 1,49,500/- from the different parts of the bordering area.
In view of the General Parliamentary Elections – 2019, Border Security Force has further intensified its vigil on the International Border. The Force is also putting constant pressure on the trans-border criminals and making all out efforts to prevent the smuggling of Narcotics and other Contrabands in the State of Tripura.
