The flood situation in Kumarghat subdivision of Unakoti district is becoming increasingly dire due to continuous heavy rains for several days. As the water level of the Manu and Deo rivers has reached near the danger mark, several low-lying areas of the subdivision have been flooded.

Many families have been forced to leave their homes and take shelter in relief camps opened by the administration. The Kumarghat subdivision administration has opened 17 relief camps for the affected people. Currently, a total of 1,509 people from 287 families have taken shelter in these camps.

Flood water has entered houses in various areas including Halaimura, Industry Para, Indira Colony, Tarapur, Taraninagar. In some places, roads have also gone under water. Residents affected by the floods said that the situation is deteriorating rapidly due to incessant rains.

Many have reached the relief camps in the dark of night with their domestic animals for safe shelter. Meanwhile, the subdivision administration is keeping a close watch on the situation. Officials are inspecting the various affected areas and assessing the situation.

The administration has urged the general public to be alert and to move to safe places quickly if necessary. It is feared that the flood situation may become more complicated in the coming days if the weather conditions do not improve and the rainfall continues. However, it has been informed that the administration is ready to deal with any situation.
