Former CM Manik Sarkar criticises violence in state

Former Tripura chief minister, Manik Sarkar alleged that there is lawlessness and misgovernance prevailing in the state under the BJP led government.

Sarkar said that nine incidents of mob lynching and custodial deaths have taken place in the state since the BJP assumed power. He added that the Communist Party of India had met Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb to tell about the incidents.

He also added that there were over 200 physical attacks on opposition party men, mainly CPI-M workers and supporters. “While 152 shops and houses were attacked, 17 party offices were also attacked.”

This was informed by former Tripura Chief Minister and politburo member of the CPIM Manik Sarkar in Agartala on Sunday.

Manik Sarkar said: “The BJP-led government in Tripura and Chief Minister Biplab Deb, who also holds the Home portfolio has failed miserably to control violence in the State.”
