The Government has debunked misleading social media posts claiming that a new 1,000 rupee note has been issued.

The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau has clarified that the claim is fake and the Reserve Bank of India has made no such announcement regarding the issuance of a new 1,000 rupee note.

PIB has advised citizens to stay alert to such misleading claims. PIB has also urged citizens to not share or rely on unverified claims.
