Govt changes name of Gandacherra & Atharamura as Ganda Tuisa and Hachuk Berem: Chief Minister

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb took part in Kokborok Day celebration today.

Kokborok Day is a festival celebrated in the state to commemorate the recognition of Kokborok as an official language in 1979.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced Gandachhara and Atharomura have been renamed as Ganda Twisa and Hachuk Beram respectively showing respect to Kokborok language.

Chief Minister announced name change of two places in Tripura. Commemorating the Kokborok Language, Gandacherra has been named ‘Ganda Twisa’ and on the other hand Atharamura named as ‘Hacwk Berem’ on the auspicious day of the State.

Kokborok Day is a festival celebrated in the state to commemorate the recognition of Kokborok as an official language in 1979. The activities include cultural programmes and literary activities.

The occasion witnessed people from different indigenous communities of Tripura participating in the celebration, dressed in their traditional attires.
