Four soldiers, including a Major-rank officer, have been killed in an encounter in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The encounter took place in Pinglina area of Pulwama. A civilian has also been killed in the gunbattle.

The encounter broke out on Monday morning in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district after the Pakistan-based outfit’s Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militants fired upon security forces.

Two terrorists were cornered by security forces, news agency ANI reported. The terrorists were believed to have links with Adil Ahmad Dar, the JeM suicide bomber involved in the Pulwama terror attack that killed 40 CRPF jawans on February 14.
