With the approval of the Chief Minister and Education Minister of the State Professor Dr. Manik Saha, permission has been given to introduce Kokborok language as a subject in twenty new schools of the state from the next academic year.

Of these, three schools euch in West Tripura, Sepahijala, Khowai and Gomati districts and two schools each in South Tripura, Unakoti, North Tripura and Dhalai districts have been approved to teach Kokborok language as a subject from the next academic year, 2024-25 This was informed in a press release by Director of Kokborok & Other Minority Languages, Dasharath Debbarma.
