Churaibari, Nov 2: In a major crackdown, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Churaibari Police jointly destroyed a large-scale cannabis plantation along the Tripura-Assam border.
Based on a secret tip-off, a joint operation was carried out on Sunday morning by the District Intelligence Branch (DIB) and Churaibari Police Station in the remote hilly region of Katuachhara area under Ward No. 2 of Balichhara ADC Village in North Tripura district.
During the operation, around 5,000 cannabis plants were destroyed, with an estimated black-market value of approximately ₹15 lakh.
Although no arrests have been made so far, Churaibari Police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter.
Authorities suspect that the plantation was being run by an organized group involved in illegal cultivation and trafficking of cannabis in the border areas.
