Agartala, November 3: Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury on Sunday criticized the state government for obstructing the Tipra Motha party’s proposed meeting.
Addressing a press conference, Chowdhury said that he does not support the government’s decision to prevent the Tipra Motha from holding its program. He mentioned that Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman had requested the government to halt the event, fearing possible unrest.
However, Chowdhury stated that it was incorrect to interpret the matter in such a manner. “Since Tipra Motha is an associate party of the government, the assumption that there would be chaos at their program is baseless,” he said.
He further urged the government to ensure that political activities are not obstructed in a democratic environment.
