Self Help Groups are playing an important role in the development of rural economy in the state. The government is helping the self-help groups to become self-reliant. Minister of Information and Cultural Affairs department Sushanta Chowdhury said this at loan distribution programme to self-help groups at Agniveena Hall in Jirania yesterday.
He also said that government is working on a specific plan so that even the last person of the society can be self-reliant The government is working above politics in implementing development programmes and providing public services
Vice Chairman of Jirania Panchayat Samiti Pritam Debnath spoke among others at the programme organized by Jirania Nagar Panchayat. Chairperson of Jirania Nagar Panchayat Ratan Kumar Das, Vice Chairperson Rita Das and others were present. Executive Officer of Jirania Nagar Panchayat Kumardeep Sarkar delivered the welcome address. On the occasion, 22 lakh rupees were given to 8 self-help groups and 40 lakh rupees to 22 members of self-help groups.
The guests handed over the loan approval letter to them. Besides, 6 schools of Jirania Nagar Panchayat area were given sports equipments and 23 people were given TUEP cards on the occasion. Besides, 220 good citizens were given a financial reward of 5 thousand rupees each. On the same day at Ranir bazar Gitanjali hall in a similar programme, 136 self-help groups were given financial assistance of 5 thousand rupees each Minister of Information and Cultural Affairs handed over this assistance to them
