This year’s Maayer Gomon carnival will be held in Agartala on October 23. Like
previous year, this year also the central stage of the programme will be set up in front of the Maharani Tulsibati Girls HS School. This decision was taken at a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today. The meeting held at Muktadhara auditorium was also attended by Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, acting Sabhadhipati of West Tripura Zila Parishad Biswajit Shil, AMC Corporators, information and cultural affairs (ICA) secretary Kiran Gitte, revenue secretary Milind Ramteke, IGP (law and order) Manchak Ipper. Representatives of different clubs urged the authorities to ban the use of DJ during the Puja and idol immersion ceremony. Aiming at smooth conduction of the event, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha instructed the officials to quickly finish the trimming of trees on roadsides, removal of electricity wires etc. works. He also instructed the police administration to ensure smooth movement of ambulances during Puja days.

The Chief Minister stressed that during the Puja days policing system should be stricter. At the same time he emphasized more publicity for Maayer Gomon event. He even advised to invite foreign guests to witness the event. He suggested exploring the possibility of making packages for tourists to experience Durga puja and Maayer Gomon. He called upon all departments to work in coordination to ensure smooth conduction of Maayer Gomon.

Addressing the meeting AMC Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder said the government aims to make Durga Puja festival a grand success with the cooperation of all. He said all could enjoy the Puja properly if only the law and order situation remains in control. In general the law and order situation in the state is normal now. With the passing time onlookers for the event is on the rise. He invited big clubs also to participate in Maayer Gomon, saying that single window system for permission to organize puja has been launched and the registration fee has also been exempted.

Speaking on the occasion ICA secretary Kiran Gitte said Maayer Gomon has evolved into a mirror of Tripura culture. This event has been coming down since 2022. He wished that the event becomes more appealing to the tourists with the efforts of all.

The revenue secretary Milind Ramteke urged all concerned departments to take
necessary measures to ensure that pandal construction, lighting, deployment of
volunteers, and waste management are done in a systematic manner.
In the meeting IGP (law and order) Manchak Ipper emphasized that the puja organizers have to refrain from forcible subscription collection and violation of traffic rules.

The ICA director Bimbisar Bhattacharya deliberated in details on the preparatory measures regarding Sharad Samman and Maayer Gomon event. Officials from various departments were present in the meeting. A documentary on Maayer Gomon was screened.
