Maharaja Pradyot Deb Barman assured the Bru refugees that he will stand for their rights

Maharaja Pradyot Deb Barman assured the Bru refugees that he will stand for their rights.

Pradyot Deb Barman visited Kanchanpur Bru camps today and interacted with the people there. He assured the Bru refugees that he will stand for their rights.

Pradyot Deb Barman added in his statement that “Tripura has enough place to accommodate Reang people. This is your land and nobody can force you to quit from here”.

Four people have died so far in Bru relief camps in North Tripura district, which a forum for displaced Brus claims to be a result of “starvation”.

Displaced Brus from Mizoram have claimed that four members of the community, including a four-month-old infant, had died of starvation at the refugee camps in Tripura after the Centre stopped providing free rations to them.

Three persons are admitted to a hospital and the Bru refugees continued to stage road blockade in an area in Tripura bordering Mizoram since Thursday, demanding resumption of free ration and cash-dole to them.
