MP Jitendra Chaudhury met with Shri Kumarswamy, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka and bunch of senior officials of his Government on 11th January, 2019 at Bengaluru.
Karnataka is the abode of more than 40 lakhs Adivasi population, sizeable of them are inhabiting in the forest land since time immemorable. But implementation of Forest Right Act is one of the poorests(only 12,000 something families) in the country, number of communities including nomads, which are enlisted in the ST lists of neighbouring States are not incorporated in the Schedule of Karnataka. Atrocities upon the Adivasis by Police, Forest Officials and Landlords are very high in some of the District. Adivasi Adhikar Rashtriya Manch(AARM) spearheaded the delegation, which was comprising of the leaders of allmost all Adivasi communities in the State.
Hon’ble Chief Minister has assured the delegation to conduct quick disposal of all pending claims for forest right, review of all the welfare schemes earmarked for adivasi population and shall ensure speedy trial of the cases related to atrocities.
